New Interactive Map Provides Global Perspective on Focused Ultrasound

Published:
Key Points A new tool has been developed to help patients, scientists, and other stakeholders locate focused ultrasound treatment and research sites around the world. We thank musician and Council member Peter Gabriel for the idea! The Foundation has launched a new tool to help patients, scientists, and other stakeholders locate focused ultrasound treatment and research sites around the world. The interactive site map uses specialized software to simulate a globe with more than 1,000 pinpoints that indicate sites where focused ultrasound treatment is commercially available as well as sites that are conducting clinical and preclinical research. The page is fully customizable so users can get the full global reach of focused ultrasound or view only the indications or site categories that are of particular interest. The idea for the interactive map came from musician Peter Gabriel, who is also a member of the Foundation’s Council. “The Foundation’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of focused ultrasound, and I am convinced there are all sorts of benefits to visualization,” said Mr. Gabriel. “I suggested it might help to having a ‘living globe’ that shows the progress, adoption, research, and evolution of focused ultrasound. It is a valuable tool for those seeking treatment, and it can give real confidence to clinicians considering using the technology. I am very happy to see this first version of the world map up and running, making very obvious how far focused ultrasound has come already.” See the Interactive Globe >
