Focused Ultrasound for Breast Cancer: A Promising Combination Treatment

Results from a Phase I clinical trial using focused ultrasound and microbubbles to improve radiation therapy in patients with breast cancer were recently published.
The combination treatment led to a complete response in seven tumors, with minimal side effects.

Lynn T. Dengel, MD, MSc, will guide the Foundation’s strategy for advancing focused ultrasound in the field of cancer immunotherapy.
Dr. Dengel is also a surgical oncologist at the University of Virginia, specializing in melanoma and breast disease.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship in Focused Ultrasound provides $30,000 per year for two postdoctoral researchers employed at global institutions.
