US Senator Congratulates Foundation on Virginia Bio Award

Warner letter

US Senator Mark R. Warner of Virginia recently commended the Foundation for receiving an award for Outstanding Contributions to Virginia Bioscience from the Virginia Biotechnology Association (Virginia Bio).

Senator Warner’s letter congratulated the team on the honor and lauded the Foundation’s role in helping to make focused ultrasound available to patients.

The Foundation is headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia, and was instrumental in creating a focused ultrasound Center of Excellence at the University of Virginia (UVA). It was there that the first patient was treated in the US for essential tremor. Today, focused ultrasound research is ongoing in the state at UVA and Virginia Tech.

“The Foundation is dedicated to advancing focused ultrasound around the world but we are especially passionate about helping patients here in Virginia,” said Kassell. “We are grateful to Virginia Bio and Senator Warner for being champions of focused ultrasound and the Foundation.”
