Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery Fellowship at Stanford University
Stanford University is offering a new Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery fellowship designed to provide training in all techniques of functional neurosurgery, with an emphasis on transcranial focused ultrasound (FUS) and epilepsy.
This opportunity has been approved by the Society of Neurological Surgeons’ Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training (CAST). Dr. Casey Halpern, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of Epilepsy Surgery at Stanford, will lead this fellowship.
The fellow will be hired as a clinical instructor with attending-level responsibilities and research obligations. One critical aim of the fellowship is multi-disciplinary exposure to FUS and to advance FUS neurosurgical research. Protected time for additional research will be encouraged, while the fellow focuses on supporting Dr. Halpern’s busy stereotactic practice, including deep brain stimulation and novel indication clinical trials, as well as the epilepsy surgery program at Packard Hospital led by Dr. Gerald Grant, Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Dr. Pejman Ghanouni, who leads the radiology and MR physics teams that conduct focused ultrasound treatments with Dr. Halpern at Stanford, will be heavily involved as a clinical and academic mentor.

Faculty Position in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Repair
The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking fellowshiptrained candidates in Functional Neurosurgery at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join our growing team at USF Health and Tampa General Hospital (TGH).
Successful faculty candidates will be appointed in the Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Repair. Faculty will provide neurosurgical treatment at one of the Southeast’s largest critical care units at TGH, and will participate in teaching and clinical research.
