The Foundation Partners with St. Baldrick’s in Fight Against Childhood Brain Cancer

The organizations are co-funding a preclinical study to investigate focused ultrasound for the treatment of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).
DIPGs are highly aggressive and devastating brain tumors that affect young children.
Researchers at Columbia University are using focused ultrasound to open the blood-brain barrier in hopes of delivering adequate levels of chemotherapy to the tumor.

Six-Year-Old Patient with DIPG Participates in Focused Ultrasound Clinical Trial

A Washington Post article this week shared the story of a patient with DIPG who is taking part in a focused ultrasound clinical trial.
Her family is hopeful that the clinical trial will benefit their daughter and future patients.
The Foundation is co-funding this clinical trial at Children’s National Hospital.

Reimbursement News: Focused Ultrasound for Essential Tremor Now Covered by Humana

Humana is the fifth national payor in the US to cover focused ultrasound treatment for essential tremor (ET).
This decision means that 9 million more people in the US will have access to focused ultrasound for ET.
Cigna, Anthem, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Medicare have also granted positive coverage decisions nationwide.
