FDA Grants Breakthrough Device Designation for Cordance Medical’s Brain Tumor Liquid Biopsy Platform

The company’s NeuroAccess™ platform is designed to noninvasively open the blood-brain barrier for liquid biopsy and drug delivery applications.
The FDA’s Breakthrough Devices Program allows fast-tracking of certain novel devices and expedites patient access to treatments.

First Patients Enrolled in Lung Cancer Brain Metastases Clinical Trial

Clinicians at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Virginia treated two patients in a clinical trial investigating focused ultrasound’s role in enhancing immunotherapy for lung cancer that has spread to the brain.
The trial is taking place at five sites throughout the US and Canada.

The funded projects are studying the use of focused ultrasound for brain tumors, cancer immunotherapy, osteosarcoma, and renal cell carcinoma.

Pediatric Cancer Research Grants Now Available

St. Baldrick’s Foundation is accepting applications to fund innovative research to find cures for childhood cancers.
Letters of intent for the spring 2024 grant cycle are due December 8.
