On September 15, 2020, the Focused Ultrasound Foundation helped sponsor the Breast Cancer Alliance’s annual Medical Symposium: Hot Topics in Breast Cancer.

logo breast cancer allianceThe event was moderated by Judy Woodruff, anchor and managing editor of PBS NewsHour, and featured a panel of four clinicians and experts in cancer care. The group discussed a wide range of topics, including challenges presented by COVID-19, advances in breast cancer treatment, potential cardiac complications of cancer therapy, diet, stress, and lifestyle management. Woodruff asked the panelists to address several questions including where individuals should go if they are interested in clinical trials.|

The symposium audience included both patients and medical professionals. Breast Cancer Alliance distributed an educational booklet which includes a five-page article on focused ultrasound approaches to treating breast cancer by Suzanne LeBlang, MD, the Foundation’s Director of Clinical Relationships.

  • Angela Pennisi, MD
    Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Breast Medical Oncologist, Board certified: Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine
