- Insightec has launched a clinical trial assessing focused ultrasound to temporarily disrupt the blood-brain barrier to enable liquid biopsies in patients with glioblastoma.
- Liquid biopsies are an emerging method of analyzing the molecular profile of tumors through a simple blood test.
- Researchers are investigating whether focused ultrasound can enhance the levels of DNA biomarkers circulating in the bloodstream.

Biomedical Technology Prize to Recognize Innovators Impacting Health
- The Richard N. Merkin Prize in Biomedical Technology will recognize scientists who have developed technologies that substantially impact human health.

Acoustiic Receives Grant to Develop Liver Cancer Screening and Treatment
- A Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grant from NIH will enable Acoustiic to develop a cost-effective method for liver cancer screening and monitoring.
- The company will adapt its 3D volume ultrasound therapy technology to facilitate real-time lesion monitoring throughout the entire liver volume.
- This technology would be the first of its kind and is envisioned for use with Acoustiic’s planned noninvasive therapy system.
