Job Opening: Marketing Strategist/Analyst

Job Summary

The Marketing Strategist/Analyst will report to the CEO/Director of Operations and will advance the mission of the Foundation by performing key activities within the Foundation’s External Relations related to industry and commercialization of focused ultrasound.

Primary/Core Responsibilities

  • Lead project manager of annual State of the Field Report produced by the Foundation
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with focused ultrasound industry/commercialization community with the following objectives:
    • Establish and manage industry relationships in specific topic areas
    • Update database on industry/commercialization activities on a quarterly basis
    • Gather data for Foundation papers and reports
    • Support biennial Symposium sponsorship objectives
  • Manage industry specific content development and maintenance for Foundation website to keep content up to date and relevant, collaborating with other staff as necessary
  • Survey literature and web for new FUS research areas, potential indications, research sites, FUS companies, media, etc.

Requirements

A successful candidate must:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, marketing, or business
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • 5-10 years relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Masters in Marketing
  • Work experience in medical device or pharmaceuticals (sales or business development)

Job Opening: Scientific Medical Writer

Job Summary

In order to advance the mission of the Foundation, the Scientific Medical Writer must keep abreast of current literature, emerging science, technological developments, and medical trends in the field of focused ultrasound. They are responsible for writing clear, concise, and informative medical and scientific summaries appropriate for our various stakeholder viewpoints in the style and level of the New York Times Science Section or Scientific American.

The Medical Writer must be able to compile, write, and edit medical writing deliverables covering all phases of pre-clinical, technical and clinical research. Some of the types of deliverables include abstracts, materials for scientific meetings and exhibits, comprehensive clinical study reports, study protocols, and risk/benefit analysis. They will also write integrated summaries from raw data, biannual international symposium summary (4 day scientific meeting), and ad hoc, topic specific workshop summaries.

Medical Writer will also write scientific copy for a broader audience. This may include deliverables such as: funding proposals and funder reporting requirements; updating Foundation overview and “what we do” collateral; disease specific case statements; drafting general interest newsletter stories; and profiles of financial donors, patients, investigators, research and clinical treatment sites.

Larger documents will include quarterly reports, annual state of the field report, and white papers as identified.

Primary/Core Responsibilities

  • Extensive knowledge of English grammar with a familiarity with a standard style guide
  • Ability to communicate scientific or medical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Familiarity with the principles of clinical research
  • Ability to interpret and present clinical data and other complex information

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a scientific medical writer
  • Bachelor’s degree in science/engineering or technical writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Medical specialty (i.e. oncology, neurology, immunology, radiology, or medical devices)
  • Graduate education in medical writing or related medical course work

Job Opening: Information Technology Support Associate

The Focused Ultrasound Foundation, a medical research, education and patient advocacy organization in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking an IT Associate. This position will work with the Information Technology and Data Manager for the Foundation to assist with end user support, systems management tasks and several larger IT projects.

As part of the Foundation’s administrative team, this role will work closely on a daily basis with the other parts of the Foundation to ensure things run smoothly and to assist with a variety of tasks and projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • IT support to Foundation staff to resolve various technical issues, answer questions related to applications and assist with the general support of the organization.
  • Support of printers, copiers and audio visual equipment such as projectors, televisions, projection screens, microphones and speakers.
  • Under the direction of the IT & Data Manager, assist with systems management tasks including minor network adjustments, password resets, permission adjustments and security lists management.
  • Work with web-based Content Management System to help keep the website and web infrastructure up to date.
  • Assist with routine data imports, exports and integrations.
  • Participate in the implementation of an updated network security infrastructure.
  • Assist with the creation, management and updating of a Foundation knowledgebase for many areas.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • High-level problem solving abilities
  • Experience operating as part of a team
  • Windows 7 and 8 Desktop/Laptop Support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Basic computer hardware support
  • Application software installation/configuration

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of more in-depth computer network concepts

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications
  • Familiar with database systems, Salesforce experience is a plus

Education

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields preferred.

This position will represent the Foundation in a professional manner and perform with a high level of accuracy and problem solving ability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Executive Administrator
    • Serve as first point of contact for visitors; manage Chairman’s phone calls
    • Schedule meetings and maintain Chairman’s calendar with high degree of accuracy
    • Arrange domestic and international travel for Chairman and Development Director, create detailed itineraries with travel and meeting information, process late travel changes, monitor status throughout trip, and process reimbursements
    • Assist with Board of Directors relations: schedule quarterly meetings, assist with meeting material production
    • Provide support to Operations Director as needed
  • Board of Directors relations: Schedule quarterly meetings; assist with production of quarterly presentation book
  • Assist with Development event planning and coordination
  • Provide administrative support to Operations Director as needed
  • Various administrative projects and responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
