iPhone Application for Tracking Hand Tremors
Project Overview
My project involved tracking hand tremors with an iPhone camera and calculating the frequency of the movements.
Project Outcomes
The iPhone can automatically detect hand movements and measure the frequency of the oscillations. Testing obtained the same results as an accelerometer.
Why were you initially interested in working with the Foundation?
My dad works with therapeutic ultrasound. I plan to become an engineer, and I wanted to know more about how an engineer could contribute to patient care.
What was the most important learning point of your internship experience?
I was impressed to see how much progress we could make in programming within a few weeks using good mentoring and help from other interns.
How will your accomplishments impact the field of focused ultrasound?
I hope that my work will lead to a final app that could be used by physicians and patients.
Has your internship affected your career plans?
I knew I wanted to become an engineer, but I didn’t know in which domain. I am now highly motivated to work in the medical field.
What is one tip that you would give 2024 summer interns?
Collaborate and interact with the other interns as much as you can. It’s fun, and you will learn a lot.
