Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research for Focused Ultrasound Foundation Use
Project Overview
My project involved researching how generative AI can be used at the Foundation for administrative and technical purposes.
Project Outcomes
AI is constantly improving. There are several free and paid services that can be leveraged at the Foundation to maximize productivity.
Why were you initially interested in working with the Foundation?
I interned at the Foundation last year and had such a great experience that I asked if I could come back again this year. I like how close-knit the team is, and it feels like everyone’s work is valued and appreciated.
Did you complete your work at the Foundation’s offices or virtually? How do you think your location impacted your experience?
I worked in the office for the entire summer. That was the right way to do it because my favorite part about the job was learning about the office’s hardware systems. Although I could have done my project remotely, much of the help desk work would not have been as easy to do from home.
What was the most important learning point of your internship experience?
I learned that working in IT is multi-faceted. I came into the office with a fair bit of troubleshooting know-how, but I was not as ready for all of the cybersecurity issues that I had to deal with.
Has your internship affected your career plans?
My first real job following my internship is going to be working at the Foundation as an IT Associate. So, yes, the internship had a significant impact on my career plan!
What is one tip that you would give 2024 summer interns?
Approach the internship with an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for the organization’s mission. Embrace every opportunity to contribute, no matter how big or small, and remember that your dedication and enthusiasm can make a significant impact. Be proactive in seeking out projects, asking questions, and collaborating with colleagues. By actively engaging with the team and immersing yourself in the work, you’ll not only gain valuable skills but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
I have had two great internships at the Foundation, and I am excited to finally join the team as a full-time employee.
