Charlottesville, Virginia, April 21, 2020 –  The Focused Ultrasound Foundation has announced  that former BlackRock executive Patrick Edelmann has joined the team as Managing Director. His responsibilities include: spearheading the Foundation’s initiatives with Emily White, MD, to facilitate commercialization of the technology; launching our Institutional Giving program with Ann Taylor to include family offices, corporate foundations, and community foundations; and leveraging our Veterinary Program on a path to widespread utilization for the treatment of companion animals.

Patrick EdelmannMr. Edelmann received his BS from Vanderbilt and an MBA from the University of Virginia and is a CFA® charterholder. After nearly two decades at BlackRock, Inc. – where he was a managing director and member of the Global Allocation Fund overseeing healthcare-related investments across all asset classes and geography – Mr. Edelmann developed the desire to build something that was entrepreneurial and aspirational. He left BlackRock to join a Mideast family office to establish the group’s investment strategies within the US.

Says Mr. Edelmann, “A chance encounter with Neal immediately stirred my interest in focused ultrasound and how the foundation is changing lives. When Neal later approached me with an incredible opportunity to be part of this unique, entrepreneurial organization that aligns with my personal interests and allows me to impact lives far beyond my own, I couldn’t say no. After a long and rewarding career in financial services I’m both eager and honored to impact lives in a more considerable manner.”

“We are thrilled to have someone like Patrick return to Charlottesville at such a critical and exciting time for the field of focused ultrasound,” said Foundation Founder and Chairman Neal F. Kassell, MD. “His distinguished investment career, financial savvy and genuine desire for changing lives is the perfect blend to help oversee focused ultrasound’s continued growth, commercialization, and adoption as a standard of care, ultimately transforming millions of lives worldwide.”
