Last September, Profound Medical hosted its second in-person PRO-Talk Live! TULSA-PRO educational event for physicians.
Seventy physicians traveled to Las Vegas to hear presentations from eight leading urologists who are currently using the TULSA-PRO for prostate disease ablation.
“The PRO-Talk Live! event brought together both experienced and potential physician users for a day of face-to-face presentations and discussions, many of which highlighted TULSA’s clinical use across the entire prostate disease spectrum,” said Arun Menawat, Profound’s CEO and Chairman, in a press release.
According to Profound Medical, the PRO-Talk platform was designed to be an educational platform for physicians, by physicians. At the event, physicians can share, providing a great way to increase awareness of new technologies and the potential benefits to both health care organizations and their patients, further advancing the state of care for prostate disease as whole.
TULSA-PRO uses real-time MRI guidance and temperature feedback control combined with radiation- and incision-free ultrasound to allow physicians to predictably ablate whole-gland or partial prostate tissue. In 2019, the system was the first transurethral ultrasound ablation device cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration for the ablation of prostate tissue. It is also cleared for use in Europe, Asia, and Canada.
In early November, the company announced the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the first time established a Category 1 CPT code for the TULSA procedure effective January 1, 2025. The code covers care in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and private clinics as a Level 7, with a 0-day global period, enabling the procedure to be reimbursed across multiple heath care settings, with separate reimbursements for follow-up care.
The first PRO-Talk Live! event was held in Chicago in 2022.
The recordings from this event are now available.
