A new undergraduate seminar course in the Biomedical Engineering department at the University of Virginia will introduce students to focused ultrasound therapy.
The course – called “Focused Ultrasound: Fundamentals & Applications” – is intended to familiarize students with a wide variety of therapeutic focused ultrasound treatment regimens, as well as its current and potential clinical applications.
The class will be instructed by four PhD students and a number of guest lecturers, including two of the Foundation’s team members – Brain Program Project Engineer, David Moore, and Scientific Programs Manager and Veterinary Program Director, Kelsie Timbie, PhD. The course has no affiliation to the Foundation, but enrolled students are expected to tune into the Foundation’s virtual 2020 Symposium in November.
