A new research study (NCT 07226648) is testing whether LIFU neuromodulation applied with SPIRE Therapeutic’s DIADEM device can reduce pain symptoms following modulation of the brain’s limbic circuits. Data collection is now proceeding at multiple sites across the United States.

“The goal of this clinical trial is to provide a measurable decrease in pain over the treatment period,” said Jan Kubanek, PhD, the co-founder of SPIRE Therapeutics. “The study is using a sham comparison to allow us to determine whether active stimulation provides significantly stronger and clinically meaningful improvements in pain intensity.”

The clinical trial is being funded by the Focused Ultrasound Foundation and SPIRE Therapeutics.
