Meeting Report: RSNA 2020

RSNA 2020The 106th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) was a highly scaled-back virtual meeting that took place November 29 through December 5, 2020.

The conference, which is designed for interventional radiologists, diagnostic radiologists, researchers, and allied professionals, included two continuing education sessions and seven poster presentations featuring focused ultrasound.

The focused ultrasound poster presentations covered Parkinson’s, pancreatic cancer, bone and soft tissue tumors, and women’s health applications. The continuing education presentations were:

  • “MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound Brain Applications” by J. Levi Chazen, MD, Associate Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine, which was part of a four-part continuing education session titled “What’s in the Pipeline for Neuroradiology?”
  • “Some Prospects on the CEUS Future” by J. Brian Fowlkes, PhD, Departments of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering, University of Michigan, which was part of a four-part continuing education session titled “Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound: How, Why, When?”

“The brain applications overview was particularly helpful to educate the radiologic community on the current status of clinical focused ultrasound to treat various neurologic disorders,” said Suzanne LeBlang, MD, the Foundation’s Director of Clinical Relationships. “And Dr. Fowlkes’s forward-looking talk about the many types and uses of combining microbubbles with focused ultrasound was incredible.”

Dr. Chazen’s presentation was noted among the top neuroimaging innovations in Aunt Minnie’s coverage of the conference.

Below is a list of the focused ultrasound poster presentations categorized by indication. Because the virtual presentations are only available to meeting registrants, please contact Dr. LeBlang if you would like to see any of these presentations.
