Key Points
- The 2024 Oxford Focused Ultrasound (FUS) Annual Meeting was held on October 3 at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
- Researchers and collaborators presented 15 focused ultrasound studies.
- The Focused Ultrasound Foundation designated the University of Oxford a Center of Excellence in 2023.

The 6th Oxford FUS Annual meeting was held October 3, 2024, and featured both preclinical and clinical focused ultrasound research conducted at the University of Oxford and beyond. The in-person event was designed to encourage networking and spark new collaborations. Researchers shared progress on focused ultrasound treatment for cancer, dementia, and back pain, and discussed the future of Oxford’s focused ultrasound Center of Excellence (COE).
“Oxford is well deserving of the COE designation, as they are leading innovative preclinical research across a variety of focused ultrasound mechanisms of action and disease processes,” said Suzanne LeBlang, MD, the Foundation’s director of clinical relationships, who attended the meeting. “In addition, they are performing seminal translational clinical studies as well as continuing to treat patients with commercially available focused ultrasound systems. The assembly of key principle researchers and clinicians in one room was truly inspirational, and there was a tremendous enthusiasm to learn about the various research projects.”
