On May 5, 2021, to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the first transcranial MR-guided focused ultrasound center in Ufa, Russia, organizers from the site held the Focused Ultrasound Non-invasive Neurosurgery Congress 2021. The V.S. Buzaev Memorial International Medical Center for Intelligent Neurosurgery Clinic began offering focused ultrasound with Insightec’s Exablate Neuro system in May 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Insightec team was not able to attend the first treatment, so the site was the first to begin treatments with virtual oversight from the manufacturer.
The special online congress featured speakers from Japan, Taiwan, Spain, United Kingdom, and Russia.
Including a warm welcome message from Roni Yagel, PhD, Insightec’s Vice President of International Markets, the congress included five hours of presentations, a masterclass on MR-guided focused ultrasound operation, and a full hour of discussion. More than 125 attendees logged in to the live meeting, and hundreds more have now watched the recordings.
