The 74th annual CNS meeting took place in Houston, Texas, September 28 – October 2, 2024. It featured sessions designed to support the entire neurosurgery community, from medical students to leading experts in the field. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Neurosurgery Origins,” and the program emphasized both proven methodologies like surgical tumor resection as well as emerging technologies such as neuromodulation.

Dheeraj Gandhi, MD, FACR won the Neurosurgery Pain Paper of the Year Award for his publication titled Focused Ultrasound Central Lateral Thalamotomy for the Treatment of Refractory Neuropathic Pain: Phase I Trial
“Winning the Neurosurgery Pain Paper of the Year Award for our work with focused ultrasound highlights the potential of minimally invasive central lateral thalamotomy (CLT) in treating neuropathic pain,” said the senior author Dr. Gandhi. “This study underscores the promise of focused ultrasound in redefining pain management for this patient population who has extremely limited treatment options.”
