avma 2019The annual meeting of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) was held in Washington, DC, from August 2-6, 2019. The conference, which attracts nearly 10,000 veterinarians and associated professionals, provides clinical updates and networking opportunities for the industry.

“AVMA is a great opportunity to network with other nonprofits,” said the Foundation’s Veterinary Program Manager, Kelsie Timbie, PhD. “We are always looking to collaborate with organizations that fund veterinary medical research and were able to make many potential connections this year.”

The Foundation launched its Veterinary Program in 2017 with the goal of making new innovative therapies available for companion animals while simultaneously collecting data that can be used to advance human research. Current clinical trials are investigating treating cancer and promoting wound healing in pets. For more information about this program, contact Dr. Timbie.
