Uterine fibroids remains the most widely approved application of focused ultrasound, with the potential to help countless women. Discussion centered on ideas to overcome the slow adoption rates to date.

Beyond fibroids, brain applications were a hot topic, specifically the promising early studies of transcranial focused ultrasound to treat neuropathic pain, essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease and obsessive compulsive disorder. Disrupting the blood-brain and blood-tumor barriers is also being investigated and could be pivotal in treating a multitude of conditions.
