The Foundation’s Chief Scientific Officer, Jessica Foley, PhD, was recently elected to the Virginia Biotechnology Association (Virginia Bio) Board of Directors.
Founded in 1992, Virginia Bio is a statewide nonprofit trade association for the life science industry. It aims to advance the life sciences bio-ecosystem by advocating for effective national, state, and local public policies, supporting life science entrepreneurs and businesses, and educating the next generation of leaders. Today, more than 250 organizations across Virginia are members.
“It’s an honor to join the outstanding group of leaders on the Virginia Bio Board of Directors,” said Dr. Foley. “The organization has been a supportive partner to the Foundation for many years. I’m so appreciative of this opportunity to give back and share my time and expertise to help the organization continue to support and grow the life sciences industry and community in Virginia and beyond.”
Earlier this year, Dr. Foley presented “Focused Ultrasound at the Tipping Point” as part of the Virginia Bioscience Commercialization Luncheon. She shared the current state of the field of focused ultrasound and the Foundation’s strategy for advancing the field including funding, awareness building, strategic partnerships, and other opportunities for collaboration.
In 2019, the Foundation received an award at Virginia Bio’s THRiVE conference for Outstanding Contributions to Virginia Bioscience. The Foundation also participates in the organization’s Women Building Bio conferences.
Dr. Foley’s term will begin April 28, 2022.
