We are saddened to share the passing of our colleague Philip C. Keevil, MA (Oxon), MBA, FRSA, who served as founder and chairman of the UK Focused Ultrasound Foundation and an advisor to the US-based Focused Ultrasound Foundation, on August 17, 2026.
Mr. Keevil’s career spanned more than 40 years in private equity, investment banking, and not-for-profit entities in the US and London. His particular expertise was in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
He devoted considerable time to education and public service, serving as a trustee of St. Bernard’s School and St. Andrew’s School, a governor of the City of London School for Girls, and a founding member of the Business Advisory Forum at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. He was also vice chairman of the British American Chamber of Commerce and a past Master of the Worshipful Company of Poulters, one of the City of London’s livery companies.
A talented singer, Mr. Keevil participated in church choirs throughout his life. He was also a dedicated member of the advisory council of the London Symphony Orchestra and a longtime trustee of its American Foundation.
Mr. Keevil attended Trinity College, Oxford, and graduated as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School.

Kassell, MD. “His commitment to the focused ultrasound community, along with his generosity of spirit and willingness to share his time and expertise, will be greatly missed. We are grateful for all he contributed to our work and to the people around him. Our thoughts are very much with his family and loved ones at this difficult time, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them.”

Deeply admired and appreciated by his fellow UK trustees, advisors and colleagues, he leaves an impressive legacy.”
