Dr. Rowland Illing Joins Foundation's Council

Dr. RowlandThe Foundation is pleased to welcome Rowland Illing, DM, MRCS, FRCR, to its Council, a dedicated group of goodwill ambassadors who work closely with the Board of Directors and staff to provide strategic advice and assist with building awareness, establishing relationships, and raising funds.

Dr. Illing is based in Washington, DC, and serves as Chief Medical Officer and Director of Public Sector Health International for Amazon Web Services. He is responsible for public sector health care strategy and delivery of the digital arm of Amazon Web Services internationally. In this role, he works closely with healthcare providers, payors, and health technology companies. He is passionate about the delivery of person-centered care, increasing access to care, and improving outcomes at a lower cost by accelerating the secure digitization and utilization of healthcare data.

Dr. Illing is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London, who trained at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities. He is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, and a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management in the UK. Dr. Illing is also a founder and member of the Society of Interventional Oncology. He continues to present and publish on topics including digital healthcare and artificial intelligence (AI). He is also a member of the Digital Health Roster of Experts for the World Health Organization (WHO) and a member of the European AI Alliance for the European Commission.

Trained as an interventional radiologist, Dr. Illing treated patients with focused ultrasound during his medical career and is knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about the technology.
