Aarhus University Hospital Designated as Focused Ultrasound Center of Excellence

Since 2022, the Denmark site has provided focused ultrasound to more than 170 patients with essential tremor and plans to expand to bilateral treatments and Parkinson’s tremor.
Aarhus is the first Center of Excellence in Scandinavia and the 15th worldwide.

Focused Ultrasound for Varicose Veins: Durable Results at One-Year

Researchers in Spain reported encouraging results one year after using Theraclion’s SONOVEIN focused ultrasound device to treat varicose veins.
The desired outcome, vein occlusion, which was 85% to 96% after treatment, was only slightly decreased at twelve months.

Focused Ultrasound for Psychiatric Disorders: Symposium Proceedings Published

Last year, a group of experts convened in Toronto to discuss the use of focused ultrasound for treating psychiatric disorders.
Proceedings from the meeting were recently published in Brain Stimulation.

The EU Focused Ultrasound Foundation was established in October 2024 to advance the research and development of focused ultrasound throughout Europe.

Chulyong Kim, PhD, Named 2024 Andrew J. Lockhart Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Kim is developing acoustic biosensors to study and monitor the dynamics of the tumor microenvironment to guide cancer immunotherapies.
The one-year fellowship was established in 2021 by the Lockhart family in honor of their son.
