Foundation Receives $2.75 Million Matching Gift to Support Research for Neurodegenerative Disorders
  • The Foundation is funding a pipeline of more than 20 focused ultrasound projects for neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, dystonia, essential tremor, and Huntington’s disease.
  • The budget for the existing pipeline is $5.5 million, and more projects are planned in the next three years.
  • To help the Foundation reach this goal, a generous donor has issued a matching challenge, committing $2.75 million to be matched 1-for-1.

Standardization of Focused Ultrasound–Induced Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) Opening
  • Researchers conducted a systematic review of focused ultrasound parameters used to disrupt the blood-brain barrier (BBB) for drug delivery.
  • The team gathered and collated 107 preclinical and clinical studies, summarized the efficacy and safety findings, and identified gaps and limitations for further study.
