FUS Foundation 2015 Review

Published:

Dear Friends,

The field of focused ultrasound achieved many milestones in 2015. Researchers opened the blood-brain barrier for the first time and are eyeing uses for Alzheimer's and other diseases. Clinical trials are underway in depression and pediatric bone tumors, while others are being planned in cancer immunotherapy. Two devices earned FDA approval to treat the prostate, and we are awaiting a decision on another for essential tremor. The year ended with a swirl of publicity around John Grisham's new short book, The Tumor, which highlights this innovative technology to increase awareness among the general public.

Looking ahead, we aim to focus our efforts in 2016 on clearing the logjam in a number of clinical projects and helping to set the stage for a successful US launch for treating essential tremor. As always, we are thankful to our generous donors for helping to make this work possible.

We encourage you to read the Foundation's 2015 Year In Review Report. We hope you will share this broadly.

Be well,

Neal F. Kassell, MD
