- Peter's neuroendocrine cancer has caused tumors throughout his body, including his liver.
- He took part in a focused ultrasound clinical trial in the UK that is exploring histotripsy to noninvasively destroy liver tumors.
- The cancer is stable, so researchers will monitor Peter to see whether the histotripsy triggers an immune response.
- The #HOPE4LIVER trial is being sponsored in the US and Europe by HistoSonics.

Toronto Hospital Marks 300 Focused Ultrasound Treatments for Essential Tremor
- Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre recently announced that it had reached an important treatment milestone.
- Chris Smith was the 300th patient to receive focused ultrasound for essential tremor at Sunnybrook.
- After the procedure, Smith noted the “shocking difference” in his tremor, saying “My left side tremor had not only diminished, but entirely disappeared!”

Biomedical Technology Prize to Recognize Innovators Impacting Health

EDAP to Begin Endometriosis Clinical Trial
- EDAP TMS has been granted regulatory approval in France to initiate a clinical trial evaluating HIFU as a potential treatment for rectal deep infiltrating endometriosis.
- The trial will use the company’s Focal One device and enroll 60 patients.
- Patient enrollment is planned to begin in the spring of 2023.
