April 22, 2021 IN THIS ISSUE Top News | Foundation News | Patient News | Research News Industry News | Webinars | Events     Clinical Trial of Focused Ultrasound for Trigeminal Neuralgia Seeks Patients The University of Maryland School of Medicine has launched a clinical trial investigating focused ultrasound to treat trigeminal neuralgia, a chronic and disabling pain condition. Patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia, including those who have not benefitted from other treatments, are encouraged to inquire. The Foundation is funding this trial and another pain study where patients are treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Through this partnership, the Foundation and ten focused ultrasound companies have become members of MDMA. Focused ultrasound facilitated intranasal delivery of immune checkpoint inhibitors to the brain.   The new method enhanced the accumulation of the cancer immunotherapy by approximately four-fold.
