Nick Dervisis, DVM, PhD, DACVIM–Oncology, will advise on Foundation-funded veterinary clinical trials, interface with professional societies, and represent the Foundation at conferences.
Dr. Dervisis is also an associate professor of oncology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
The Foundation’s Research Awards Program has initiated eight preclinical studies this year.
Along with improving brain treatments, the funded projects use focused ultrasound to address Parkinson’s disease, pediatric neuroblastoma, tissue healing, cancer, and more.
In this ninth blog in the series, Mark Carol, MD, a senior consultant at the Foundation, addresses challenges companies face when preparing to market new devices.
He discusses quality management systems, device development, staffing, reprocessing protocols, and go-to-market strategies.
“The momentum for open science is mounting, and the Foundation will continue to strive to elevate the standards for transparency and accessibility in focused ultrasound research.”
