A Foundation-funded project at the University of Michigan was recently completed. Jonathan Sukovich, PhD, sought to develop advanced methods for real-time monitoring and localization of histotripsy-generated bubble clouds during transcranial treatment.

sukovichIn “Acoustic Backscatter-based 3D Mapping of Cavitation and Skull Surface in Histotripsy Transcranial Applications,” Sukovich designed and conducted experiments to localize and map histotripsy treatments through the skull and then 3D map the skull surface for co-registration with prior scans – all in real-time during therapy. Will these new methods allow new research to begin for transcranial histotripsy treatments?
