In the United States, focused ultrasound–based treatment of tremor-dominant PD is currently being reimbursed by Medicare in 19 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. In total, this covers 20.7 million Medicare beneficiaries. Outside the United States,* the procedure is reimbursed in Germany, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, and in the Sicily, Abruzzo, and Lombardia regions of Italy.
