The annual meeting of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine was held March 24-28, 2018 in New York, NY. The sessions included many applications for focused ultrasound, from clinical experience to basic science.
The Foundation’s Research Fellow, Frederic Padilla, PhD, attended the meeting. “I was pleased to learn about the first focused ultrasound plus contrast agent radiosensitization clinical trial, which is being conducted at Thomas Jefferson University. Current developments in cavitation monitoring and regulating blood-brain barrier opening also caught my attention. Finally, the interest in focused ultrasound for the prostate necessitated AIUM devoting an entire session it,” said Padilla. “I met several new researchers in the field and brought a large amount of information back to the Foundation.”
