The Male Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) hosted a virtual conference August 5-7, 2021, featuring physicians, researchers, survivors, and other stakeholders.
The Foundation’s Director of Clinical Relationships, Suzanne LeBlang, MD, presented the current state of focused ultrasound for treating breast cancer and its advantages over traditional therapies. She also shared innovative research using focused ultrasound to enhance drug delivery and immunotherapy.
“One of the most striking revelations I had when preparing for this meeting was realizing that only about half of the current focused ultrasound clinical trials for breast cancer allow male participants as part of the inclusion criteria,” explained Dr. LeBlang. “We must do a better job in the field of recognizing that men struggle with this disease and also deserve the most innovative treatment options.”
The MBCC is a not-for-profit patient advocacy organization dedicated educating the world about male breast cancer and ending the stigma behind the diagnosis.
