In a World Economic Forum blog post entitled, "We know sound soothes us. But what if it could kill a tumour?" Foundation Chairman, Neal Kassell, MD, writes about the immense potential of focused ultrasound to improve outcomes for patients.
While the technology is still early in its development, Kassell predicts that "years from now, when the potential of focused ultrasound is realized and it becomes a mainstream therapy, it will result in a change in treatment paradigms and health policy that will affect countless patients around the globe."
Last year, Kassell was invited to serve on the Future of Neurotechnologies and Brain Science council, one of the networks in the Global Future Councils, a community of world-leading experts and innovators to provide bold visions for solving critical global, regional, and industry challenges.
