Tao Sun, PhD, a Research Fellow in Radiology at Harvard Medical School (Brigham and Women’s Hospital) is seeking abstracts to complete a video methods collection for the video journal, JoVE. The collection, “Focused ultrasound-mediated therapies for neurological disorders,” will compile videos of transcranial focused ultrasound experiments to increase transparency across the field.
“The objective of this collection is to provide an overview of the various focused ultrasound-based techniques available to enhance treatment efficacy in the brain,” explains Dr. Sun. “We aim to firstly offer high-level insights on which focused ultrasound regimen is most suitable for a specific disease. Additionally, we provide discussion on the protocol design with respect to focused ultrasound parameters, administration of drugs/acoustic enhancers/anesthetics, treatment scheduling, and other critical points.”
According to their website, JoVE “creates the ultimate solutions for advancing research and science education by making and publishing videos of scientific experiments from the top laboratories around the globe.” It is one of the most accepted resources for research methods and protocols, and is currently indexed in many major databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science.

After submission, each manuscript will be editorially and peer reviewed, which is typically a one- to two-month process. After a text article passes review, a script will be generated. Generally, a filming date is scheduled within four to eight weeks after acceptance, and a videographer is sent to the authors’ site to film the procedure. However, in response to COVID-19, JoVE will publish text articles after the peer review. We will film and add corresponding videos to our website when laboratories and facilities in affected areas reopen.
