Radiologists from around the world gathered in Chicago November 25-30, 2018, for the 104th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). The program featured 14 focused ultrasound abstracts, which covered bone, cancer, women’s health, and prostate applications. Several young investigators from Alessandro Napoli’s group also earned student travel stipends based on the merit of their abstract submissions.
“I presented a study comparing cost-effectiveness of focused ultrasound with pain medication for the palliative treatment of painful bone metastases,” said Matthew Bucknor, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology at University of California San Francisco. “There were other exciting comparative studies for focused ultrasound (see the Bone and Cancer sections), and these studies are important for gaining adoption of new treatment methods.”
