Project: Salesforce Data Efficacy, General Admin

Kate smProject Goal & Overview
I helped gather and clean up data in Salesforce, the Foundation’s website, and the office event calendars. I created a spreadsheet of intern information and links that I used to develop surveys to help the Foundation gather info on its Global Intern and Summer Intern Programs. This data will be helpful in the future to improve the intern program, learn what past interns are doing now, and if their internship helped play a role in their current careers. In addition, I assisted with office furniture inventory and created furniture layout plans for future office expansion. I also cleaned up a spreadsheet of past and current research funding awards with dates and payment information that will help the Foundation better gauge the timing and efficiency of future research.

What was your most important learning experience as an intern?
Although my internship hasn’t been the most exciting of projects, I still feel I have learned a lot about time management, Excel, how to navigate and use the Salesforce system, and how to take on projects I know little about and figure out how to complete them.

Share some advice for our 2019 interns.
Use your mentors. They have great advice and information to share. Everyone is very helpful.
