Painful Bone Tumor Trial Begins at Children's National

Published:

Children’s National Health System has become the first site in the US to use focused ultrasound to treat osteoid osteoma, a benign but painful bone tumor that commonly occurs in children and young adults.

The team successfully relieved pain in two patients, 16 and 10 years old, as part of a clinical trial. This study builds on Foundation-supported research being conducted at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. We reported on the first patient treated in this study in August 2014.
