The Focused Ultrasound Foundation, an entrepreneurial, high-performance, medical research, education, and patient advocacy not-for-profit organization in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Research Program Manager to join our team. The candidate will have strong relationship management skills, an ability to translate complex problems into clear frameworks, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This position will direct one or more of the Foundation programs, manage a portion of the preclinical research projects that the Foundation has funded, and relate the added knowledge to the other members of the research team. This position will use best-practice tools coupled with strong project management skills to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible process. As a lean, fast-paced, mission-driven organization, it is critical to not only understand the role but to work collaboratively across the organization.

Qualifications

  • PhD, DVM, or MD
  • Salary commensurate with years of experience

Experience and Skills

  • Has publications and presentations appropriate for years of experience
  • Has experience as a meeting organizer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Displays an aptitude for Project Management
  • Experience with Grant Awards and Administration is preferred
  • Experience with the commercialization of an early-stage medical device is preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with focused ultrasound is preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with immunotherapy is preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with gene therapy is preferred

    Responsibilities

    • Manages Foundation funded, preclinical research projects
    • Participates in the Funding Proposal process
    • Participates in the selection of project reviewers
    • Participates in the development of FUSF internal research protocols
    • Participates in the organization of workshops, roundtables, and webinars
    • Represent the Foundation at scientific meetings and fundraising events
    • Mentorship of Foundation Interns
    • Full-time physical presence in the FUSF office is required for this position
