Media Manager


The Focused Ultrasound Foundation, a dynamic medical research, education, and patient advocacy organization in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Media Manager. This position will work closely with the Director of Communications, a Communications Manager, and other communications team members. May also assist other Foundation teams – including Development (fundraising), Advocacy, and Science/Medical – on a variety of tasks and projects. Prefer in-office (versus remote) 4+ days/week for this full-time position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Managing the Foundation’s media relations program, including conducting proactive and reactive media outreach; pitching media; establishing relationships with journalists; monitoring/tracking media coverage; and assisting in creation of media materials
  • Managing the Foundation’s social media programs, including strategy, analysis and production; developing/posting content and responding to posts on the Foundation’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and other social media sites; measuring results (volume, reach, engagement)
  • Serving as a public-facing voice of the Foundation to disseminate news and key messages
  • Designing and/or overseeing the production of digital and printed graphic materials
  • Supporting overall management of Foundation communications and outreach efforts

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-10 years of communications experience, including social media
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Team management experience
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Knowledge of Wordpress and Yoast SEO
  • Knowledge of SalesForce and/or Pardot
  • Experience with Cision, Newswise, EurekAlert
  • Experience with Agorapulse, Google Analytics, Canva, bitly, Linktree, etc.
