Project Name: Target-Specific FUS Treatment Envelope Survey in Cadaveric and Ex-Vivo Skull/Gel Phantom Model (650kHz)
Status: Complete
Primary Site: University of Virginia Health System
Sponsor Organization: Focused Ultrasound Foundation
Funded Date: Mar 26, 2013
Funding Period: Mar 26, 2013 - Jun 25, 2013

Abstract

The technical feasibility of achieving clinically relevant therapeutic heating via transcranial MRgFUS in specific high value brain targets needs to be assessed in order to prioritize near term clinical goals and to direct technical research toward effective treatment envelop extension. This study aims to answer the questions of which brain targets are technically feasible to address with the Insightec Exablate Neuro mid-frequency system. The study will also attempt to provide some safety data for these targets by monitoring adjacent skull heating.
