Focused Ultrasound for Alzheimer's Disease
Focused ultrasound is a promising, noninvasive treatment being studied for many disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease. Current clinical research involves using two different modalities to treat patients with Alzheimer’s – blood-brain barrier disruption to deliver drugs to the brain and neuromodulation to alter brain activity. While still in clinical trials, this technique offers hope for improving memory and slowing progression in the future.
