Ohio State Joins Essential Tremor Trial

In September, Stephen became the first patient with essential tremor to be treated using focused ultrasound at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center.

ohio state et1The site joins five additional locations currently treating patients as part of a continued access program for the phase III pivotal trial which is now in the follow-up stage. The study is investigating the use of focused ultrasound to treat tremors in patients that do not respond to medication or aren’t candidates for alternative treatments.  

Stephen’s essential tremor began in high school and progressed to the point where writing and and eating was a daily challenge. After the focused ultrasound procedure, Stephen’s right hand has steadied, and he is appreciative of unique opportunity and the team at Ohio State. “It’s been almost a lifelong ordeal. To me, it was a gift from Heaven.”
