Ultrasound Therapy & Imaging Track at AAPM2015

This year’s American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Annual Meeting, to be held July 12-16 in Anaheim, CA, will feature a special 3-day biennial track on Ultrasound Therapy and Imaging. Covered topics include recent advances in ultrasound for diagnostic imaging, ultrasound for guidance and control of radiation therapy, and therapeutic/focused ultrasound. The program is led by Chris Diederich and Mark Holland.

AAPM large logoEach day begins with an educational session related to the subsequent scientific sessions. Noteworthy focused ultrasound sessions include:

  • A Primer on Focused Ultrasound Therapies
  • MR-guided Focused Ultrasound in Oncology
  • Advanced Novel Technologies & Delivery Strategies
  • Therapeutic Strategies & Image Guidance

On Wednesday, Dr. Mickael Tanter, PhD (Institut Langevin, École Supérieure de Physiqueet de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris) will speak as the Carson-Zagzebski Distinguished Lectureship on Medical Ultrasound. Tanter will provide an overview of ultrafast ultrasound imaging, including current applications and changes to the future paradigm of diagnostic imaging and therapeutic monitoring.
