The Foundation believes that fundamentally, we are all patients. Whether or not we’ve been directly impacted by a benign debilitating disease or a malignant cancer, we can all identify with what it is to be a patient.
By funding early stage research, the Foundation engages researchers and clinicians in this revolutionary and paradigm shifting technology now. We strongly believe that in doing so, many will benefit from Focused Ultrasound…and the faster the rate of research, the more patients will benefit - the more all of us will benefit.
Focused Ultrasound is currently approved to treat:
Clinical trials are underway in future indications for Focused Ultrasound including:
Additionally, there are planned clinical trials on the horizon in
- prostate and liver tumors
- stroke
- epilepsy
- movement disorders
- pancreatic and kidney tumors
To learn more about the approved indications and/or how to become involved in a clinical trial for one of the future indications, please take a look at the additional information on our site.
Another key role of the Foundation is through the work of our Patient Support Organizations. In particular, we launched a Patient Support Organization for women with Uterine Fibroids called Fibroid Relief in October 2008.
