Fellowship Period: March 2008 – February 2009
I'm currently a Neurosurgery resident in Sheba Medical Center Tel Hashomer Israel (PGY5). I have a 6-12 month period starting on January 2008 that I would like to dedicate to High Intensity Focused Ultrasound research. I have been exposed to HIFU technology during my residency (by working with Drs. Harnof and Cohen). The fields of research I would like to participate include:
- Neuro-Vascular
- Neuro-Oncology
- Drug delivery
- Brain response to HIFU
I hope I will have the chance to perform preclinical as well as clinical research. Since I have two more years to complete my residency in Sheba, I will be able to complete and continue any project that will start in the fellowship dedicated period. In the future, once completing the residency program, I would like to do a Fellowship program in the area of brain tumors and functional neurosurgery. In both fields I can see the utility of HIFU technology and my personal involvement.
