Focused Ultrasound Surgery Foundation Sponsored Meetings
The foundation sponsors meetings with the goal of advancing the pace of technological progress with focused ultrasound and accelerating the adoption of this treatment method by a greater number of physicians.
Upcoming Meetings:
MRgFUS Symposium 2012
The 3rd International MRgFUS Symposium 2012 will be held October 14-17th, 2012 in the Washington D.C. metro area.
In addition to our public meetings, the foundation sponsors several Research Project Planning Groups (RPPGs) which meet regularly to advance research in areas such as intracerebral hemorrhage, ischemic stroke and neuromodulation.
Past meetings of note include:
MRgFUS Symposium 2008
Bringing together nearly 350 expert clinicians, researchers, device manufacturers, regulatory experts, and others from 19 countries, this symposium served to catalyize the focused ultrasound community.
Brain Workshop 2009
The primary objective of the workshop was to develop a comprehensive R&D roadmap that would fast-track the use of this technology to treat a variety of brain disorders including benign and malignant tumors, Parkinson's disease and essential tremor, stroke, and epilepsy
MRgFUS Symposium 2010
Our 2010 Symposium included 320 attendees from 22 countries. Presentations featured the growing number of new indications that are under development including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, back pain and tumors of the brain, thyroid, breast, liver, prostate, pancreas and bone. Also, the number of presentations was greatly increased from the foundation’s first international symposium - in 2008, there were 40 presentations; in 2010 there were more than 130.
