Joy Polefrone, Ph.D. is the Targeted Drug Delivery Program Director at the Focused Ultrasound Surgery Foundation, an internally driven research initiative at the Foundation which was launched in early 2010. Prior to this, Dr. Polefrone served as the Director of Patient Support Organizations at the Foundation from May 2008 – January 2010. During this time, she founded the FUS Foundation's first Patient Support Organization, Fibroid Relief (www.fibroidrelief.org), and served as its Executive Director from October 2008-February 2010.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Dr. Polefrone worked as a biotech equity analyst at CRT Capital Group in Stamford, CT. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Virginia in the fall of 2006 in the Laboratory of Donald F. Hunt, Ph.D. The focus of her doctoral dissertation was the use of mass spectrometry to interrogate research questions related to cancer immunology and immunotherapy. |
