Focused Ultrasound Surgery Foundation

The following are clinical trials that are ongoing for the treatment of pain due to bone metastases using MR guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS).  While bone mets are clinically approved in Europe using the MRgFUS device made by InSightec, clinical trials are underway in the United States.

 

The treatment is currently just intended to treat the pain due to bone cancer, not the removal of the cancer itself. There is evidence that the cancerous tissue can also be ablated during the procedure, but this needs to be clinically verified.
